What You Should Know Before Buying a 1080p HD Camcorder

HD camcorder requirement are boosting these days along with increased number of HD TV being bought. Just like other electronic gadgets, the cost of HD camcorders keep going down while video quality is getting better. Camcorder manufacturers are launching variety of models to suit the need of customers.
Why HD camcorders is better than Standard definition camcorders ?
Just like HD TV, HD camcorders surpass SD camcorders in video resolution. The video shown on television or computer monitor actually is formed by hundreds of lines. The more lines means higher resolution yields more vivid video. Only video that has 1080 horizontal lines can be called high definition video while as SD video only has 480.
What’s the different between 1080p and 108i ?
1080p, 1080i, and 720p are the primary resolutions of High Definition. HD camcorders on the market mainly adopt either 720p or 1080i resolution to shoot the video, but there are more and more 1080p camcorders appearing on the market.
P and i stands for two difference ways of video scanning. The “p” means progressive scan, the “i” means interlaced.
In the Interlaced video mode , the camcorder will record video in two passes, first odd line by odd line , then even line by even line, begin by lines 1, 3, 5. . and followed later bylines 2, 4, 6. . .
In the progressive scan mode, video is scanned line by line, no skipping any more, start from line one to line 1080 in one pass. Progressive scan video especially have better performance for watching sport matches or fast-motion movies.
“Full HD”
Full HD is an advertising word created by camcorder manufacturers that refers to 1920×1080 recording resolution.
“AVCHD”
AVCHD is a HD video format used by Sony, Panasonic and Canon. It’s a technique to compress HD video and using digital storage media like hard disk drives and flash memory cards to save the video.
The Kinds of HD Camcorders
Like I said above. HD camcorder have three different recording resolutions, besides this, they also have different shapes, sizes, and price. You would find price range from $200 for pocket models to $1000 for advanced 1080p camcorders. There many kinds of storage media available, like hard disk drives, flash memory cards, blue ray discs etc.
Disadvantage of HD Camcorders
Higher quality video comes with huge sizes of file volume, that means an HD camcorder will eat up your SDHC card, hard disk drive quickly.
Due to the larger video file sizes, HD video will also require your computer has enough processing capacity, otherwise there will be very slow to play it back or cant display at all.
1080p camcorder is the most advanced camcorder now.
