Hd Camcorder Burn
May/090

Will be purchasing HD Sony Camcorder that uses Flash memory..?
What accessories will I need in order to VIEW the recording in HD. I have an HD TV and an HD DVD player..Will I be able to simply connect the camcorder directly into the TV (with no special cable) and it will view HD? When burning the video on my PC, I’m assuming I’ll need to purchase blank HD DVD’s? Do i need anything else special? Thanks!
Thanks Little dog, however let me clarify. I don’t need to edit/manipulate the video in any way (no adding music, etc). I’ll simply want to transfer the video onto a blank DVD using my DVD burner. Will the HD translate from the camcorder to the DVD using a standard Vista DVD software? I have a Sony HD DVD player (not blueray)..just curious if any of the HD will be “lost in translation” when burning the video to a DVD on my PC..Thanks!
“Will I be able to simply connect the camcorder directly into the TV (with no special cable) and it will view HD?”
Yes. The camcorder comes with either a HDMI or component cable. Download the camcorder’s manual (Operating Guide or Handbook) from the support area at Sony.com. In the first few pages, there will be a “What’s in the box” page. Further into the manual will be a “Connect to a TV” section.

“HD DVD” lost the high definition video war. BluRay won. BluRay can read AVCHD format h.264 files. If you have a BluRay player (including PS3), then you can use BluRay blank discs and a BluRay disc burner with AVCHD format video or you can use regular single layer or double layer DVDs (they won’t hold much – but it is still technically possible) with the AVCHD video data file burned to them. You can also use a DVD authoring tool that can render standard definition video (downsampled from the high definition video in the computer) to regular single layer or double layer DVDs with the required VOB file format that regular DVDs can use – but this video will be standard definition.
You did not tell us which computer or operating system you are using. If you are editing the video in your computer, you need a video editing application that can deal with AVCHD format video. There is currently no version of MovieMaker that deals with AVCHD. Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere always float to the top. iMovie ‘08 or newer and the current versions of FinalCut running on an Intel Mac can deal with AVCHD-format video.
Your computer needs a FAST CPU, lots of available hard disc space (prefereably NOT on the start up disc) and a LOT of RAM (minimum2 gig; 4 gig or more is better) to deal with AVCHD video.
