Need a Good HD camcorder for Amateur filmmaking?

Hey everyone,

I”m looking for a camera for amateur filmmaking. Number one priority if video quality, then probably storage device (some kind of card is best). I live in Canada so I want it to be available there. My budget is anything under $1000 once tax is included. So say $900 (CAD) before tax. I want a decent optical zoom (probably 8x or more) and very high quality video! a 24p cinema mode would be nice too!

Any recommendations are highly appreciated. Unless anyone can REALLY persuade me I don’t want an hv20/30/40 because of the mini DV.
